Thunder-Pawz
Maine Coons
As A Reputable Breeder ... We Do The Following
DNA Tests & Vaccinations

we TEST for ...
Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM)
In simple terms, HCM is a disease of the heart.
All breeds of cats can have it and live a long life, never showing outward signs ... Or die at an early age of a sudden heart attack.
DNA Testing For The MyBPC HCM Gene Mutation
We Have Tested All Of Our Breeding Males And Females For The MyBPC HCM Gene
RESULTS:
Good News !! ... Negative
This means that all of our kittens are free of the MyBPC HCM gene mutation
Be aware also that there are other HCM causing genes that researchers have yet to discover.
Once those are discovered, we will again do more DNA testing.

we TEST for ...
Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA)
In simple terms, SMA is a disorder caused by the death
of spinal cord neurons that activate skeletal muscles of
the trunk and limbs. Loss of neurons in the first few
months of life leads to muscle weakness and atrophy that
first becomes apparent at 3-4 months of age.
DNA Testing For The SMA Gene
BOTH parents have to carry this gene to have an affected offspring, therefore ...
We Have Tested All Of Our Breeding Males For The SMA Gene
RESULTS:
Good News !! ... Clear
This means that all of our kittens are free of SMA

we TEST for ...
Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV)
Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV)
Both Are Dreadful Diseases That Eventually Will Cause Death
RESULTS:
Good News !! ... Clear
This means that all of our kittens are free of FeLV and FIV

we VACCINATE for ...
Feline Rhinotracheitis
Calici
Panleukopenia
We Use
Fort Dodge Brand
Fel-O-Vax PCT - Killed Virus
(This is a 3 Way Vaccine)
Our Adult Breeders
Booster Vaccination's Are Given Yearly
Our Kittens
Are Vaccinated At: 8, 11, and 14 Weeks Of Age
(Vaccinations Will Be Up-To-Date At Time Of Shipping)
These PREVENTIVE vaccinations are a practice that is done
by all responsible breeder's to insure your kittens health.
Note: There is a 4th vaccine called CHLAMYDIA that is
sometimes given by other breeders ... but at the advice
of SEVERAL vet's (including our own), we have chosen NOT
to give it because of it's history of actually causing the
cat/kitten to be stricken with the CHLAMYDIA disease.
So we encourage you to discuss this with your vet as to his/her
recommendation on using the 4 way vaccine verses the 3 way.

We Are A Closed Cattery and Therefore Take The
Neccessary Precautions ... Up To And Including
The Isolation Of Incoming Kittens/Cats So
As Not To Compromise The Integrity Of
Our Reputable Breeding Program
